ABOUT US

The HOOP DADS basketball game features dads competing against their teenage children in a fun and inspiring basketball game. During half time, there will be entertainment as well as a shooting contest for younger kids, against their dads. Each member of the winning team will go home with a trophy and prizes.

HOOP DADS is part of the Voice’s Fatherhood 365 Campaign and highlights the important role that fathers play in their children’s lives.

Fathers interacting with their kid(s) in any form can promote positive father-child relationships, whether it is in assisting with homework, cooking dinner together, or just having fun. HOOP DADS is promoting healthy living, strengthening families, and building stronger community relationships.

In the United States there are currently 24 million children nationwide living without a father. As of 2013, single women households were up to 13.5% in Riverside County, and 16.4% in San Bernardino County. The National Center for Fathers says, "Children from fatherless homes are more likely to be poor, become involved in drug and alcohol abuse, drop out of school, and suffer from health and emotional problems. Boys are more likely to become involved in crime, and girls are more likely to become pregnant as teens."

So...what are you waiting for? Get in the game!
